Dear NorCRID Members:

NorCRID is hosting a Special Election on the evening of Friday, July 25th at the Deaf Community Center in San Leandro from 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM.   Free to all members, the event will have a special treat: a two-hour, CEU-earning workshop entitled "The Amazing Tightrope Interpreter: Net or No Net," which will be presented by the esteemed Jimmy Beldon.

We encourage NorCRID voting members to attend, as NorCRID seeks member approval of board positions and proposed bylaw revisions. The NorCRID Bylaws have not been updated since 2001. Deadline to submit proposals for bylaw revision is Monday, June 23, 2014. These proposals will be compiled and sent out to members 30 days prior to the election, in accordance with the bylaws.

For the Special Election all board positions will be open for nominations with the goal of having a full board officially voted in by the membership. The current NorCRID board is working hard at 2/3 capacity, all of us interim in our positions. NorCRID did not have opportunity for member vote at the November 2013 business meeting which lacked a quorum.

Board positions available for nominations are as follows. Positions whose term ends December 31, 2014 are President, Secretary, Member at Large #2, and two Alternates. Positions whose term ends December 31, 2015 are Vice President, Treasurer, and Members at Large #1 & #3. The nomination period for board positions is more flexible than for proposed bylaw revisions, so nominations will be accepted through July 8th. Please spread the word and make nominations!
